Louis Vuitton FIFA World Cup Trophy Case

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is in nine days, and when FIFA needed a trophy case, who else would they turn to, but Louis Vuitton? A one-of-a-kind carrying case hand-made in the Louis Vuitton atelier in France, the case is measured to the exact specifications of the FIFA World Cup Trophy. The case is decorated with the Louis V monogram and features room to hold the gloves required by the Cup’s handlers.

In 1970, the Brazilians became the first nation to win three World Cups, and were awarded the Jules Rimet Trophy in perpetuity as the late Rimet had stipulated after the first World Cup tournament in 1930. The cup was later stolen, and never recovered. Today, decoy trophies and heavy security are used rigorously to deter thieves, but this case is kind of a dead giveaway.

Wonderful wartime illustrations from a nameless French fashion mag. The illustrator, also nameless, has used the collections to depict sins and virtues; the copy explains that the various couturiers didn't make the clothes - during WW1 - to sell to clients, but so as not to forget how to use their 'witchcraft' to the nth degree, 'for the beauty of the game' (all in the game, yo). FYI Wallpaper, “the runway was painted with a trompe l’oeil effect, giving the impression of deep, glacial ice underneath. This was topped with a shallow layer of water. Chanel had also hired 35 ice sculptors who, over the course of 6 days, hewed 240 tonnes of ‘snice’ (frozen snow-ice, if you’re unfamiliar with the term) into a dramatic icescape, reaching 8.5 metres at its highest point. Models donned special transparent Chanel galoshes to wade through the watery catwalk and pace around the Iceberg.” One question, how do you find 35 ice sculptors?? A new service provides tourists with vintage bikes for hire at various locations throughout the city.

Founded by cycling enthusiast Matthew Hurst, The Humble Vintage company offers a personalised bicycle hiring scheme with bikes for hire from cafés, clothing stores and beachside vintage shops

All bikes have 10 gears and come with a helmet, lights, lock and map of the city. The bikes available include a ‘fine flat-bar Graecross’ and a ‘super cute pink Halpin mixte’ with reflective pink cables.

Fishing Float Chandelier
Huge chandelier meticulously constructed by hand from fishing floats and nylon fishing gut. Comes complete with an internal lamp, making it easy to wire this into the ceiling or onto a three-pin plug. At the top of the chandelier is a huge loop constructed of all of the strands of fishing gut, so the chandelier can be hung from a hook on the ceiling.
This is super cool but I think I am going with a less fishy version of a lamp

I think I will chicken out and do something more in this direction.

East Meets West in CeramiX by CTRLZAK

I did grow in a chinese porcelain collectors home, I think that has rub off the love for fine porcelain on me. I really enjoy the lack of respect and play on this fragile material!

China has a long tradition in the production of ceramics and especially porcelain. Europe has, for many centuries, tried to copy the Chinese in that field. Nowadays our world is invaded by Chinese products that in most cases attempt to imitate those Europeans… CeramiX is a reflection upon the irony of history through the world of ceramics.After an initial research in the traditional techniques, methods and evolution of both Chinese and European ceramics, the CTRLZAK team identified certain key elements that identify both cultures.

Subsequently the project was divided in two phases: The first involved the acquisition of original pieces of both origins that represented these clue elements identified during the research, then the objects where sliced in half and recomposed bringing together east and west in new unique pieces; the results of this phase constitute the art collection of the project.

Tokyo/Glow follows the nighttime journey of an illuminated man from a crosswalk sign as he embarks on an adventure through the streets of Tokyo. Shot on location throughout Tokyo using thousands of individual digital stills.

To achieve the striking effect of the illuminated man, an original light suit was constructed using hundreds of feet of high-voltage LED rope lights and a translucent nylon outer shell.

As luxury brands continue to strengthen their position online, luxury conglomerate Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy launches its web magazine Nowness today. With an eye on art, high-end fashion and culture at large, the site features daily audio, video and visual capsules of original content from some of the best minds in the creative world – today’s pick is a short film by photographer Matthew Donaldson. A clever Love/Don’t Love option lets viewers personalise the experience by rating their favourite pieces so the website learns their preferences as it develops, and presents them with content in line with their responses.

‘For us, luxury is about storytelling and content,’ says Kamel Ouadi, digital executive vice president of Nowness. ‘Today, we’ve got too many websites pushing the news behind the industry. Nowness is the place to understand the stories behind the industry.’

I ve been looking for something like this for a long time I hate cords etc that birds nest that the modern worlds create. Anyhow I was looking for shelving and I found these great speakers that are hidden into the shelf I was already planning on buying in the first hand!
It is from a classic danish brand Montana
Here is some info but the speaker thingy ( mostly a mental note to myself ;)

I think that you know by now that I hate birds... I just got a newsletter from Dezeen and my eyes caught this of course ;)
London designer Tithi Kutchamuch has created a necklace with charms modelled on the skull and entrails of a parrot.The wearer pulls the chain and body parts out of a holder shaped like the body of a bird.
If you wanna see this piece live, it will be shown in the Saatchi Gallery in London this May.
